Heroes in Heels is a message for today's women who, whether trying to balance everyday demands in five- inch stilettos or racing around town in worn out athletic shoes, squander way-too-many years feeling overwhelmed, unfulfilled, restless, confused, and disappointed

“Learn to work harder on yourself than you do on your job. I’ve worked hard on my personal development, and I must admit that this has been the most challenging assignment of all. This business of personal development lasts a lifetime. But here’s the great axiom of life: To have more than you’ve got, become more than you are. Unless you change how you are, you’ll always have what you’ve got.” – Jim Rohn (Lessons on Life).

I believe this to be completely true! If there’s anything you need to change in your life… your health, your career, your relationships – YOU are the change. Most people play the blame game. They blame the situation, the boss, the spouse, or circumstances for why they can’t have what they want. The change you are searching for will always come from within you. YOU FIRST… and the rest will follow.

We learn to speak by speaking, to study by studying, to run by running, to work by working; and just so, you learn to love by loving. All those who think in any other way deceive themselves.

~ Saint Francis De Sales

As we all know, change can be difficult. But to my surprise, I discovered how healthy and beautiful doing one regular thing every day could be. By introducing a small addition to the morning routine, or a daily or weekly class, or an exercise, or a regular meeting with friends, establishing a consistent pattern makes it easy to act. And when an activity becomes habitual, it is no longer difficult. Repetitive action can make it easier to make positive changes in your life.

So, next time you dabble with the idea of joining a knitting group to finally make those homemade holiday gifts, a book club to stimulate the mind, or new yoga studio to nourish your body and spirit, make a commitment to yourself not to go just once. It’s the second time that’s the hardest.

“Change — real change– comes from the inside out. It doesn’t come from hacking at the leaves of attitude and behavior with quick fix personality ethic techniques. It comes from striking at the root — the fabric of our thought, the fundamental, essential paradigms, which give defnition to our character and create the lens through which we see the world.”
